This procedure involves removal of a vein in your leg or use of a synthetic graft to bypass blocked arteries in your leg.
After surgery, you are encouraged to walk unless it becomes too painful.
You may shower but soaking in the tub is not recommended for a week or two after surgery, after which time the incision(s) should be fairly well healed.
Swelling may occur due to fluids leaking into the tissue surrounding the surgical site. Most wound leakage problems come from swelling or edema. Therefore, reducing the swelling helps resolve these problems. It is best to lie flat on a sofa or bed with the leg elevated. However, it is not necessary to sleep this way at night.
Any staples or sutures usually will be removed within two weeks of your surgery.
Warning signs: If there are any changes in the leg, including coldness, numbness, change of color to blue, dark blue or white, be sure to contact us immediately.
